Aspiring Birth Midwifery & Doula Services offers a full range of homebirth and hospital doula services. We practice under the Midwives Model of Care, which is based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are normal life processes not medical phenomenon. Studies done on midwifery-attended births repeatedly support the safety and advantages of birth with midwives in the comfort and privacy of your home. Read More »
Pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding are normal, natural functions of the woman’s body. As a midwife, I do not “deliver” babies, instead, support women as they birth their babies. Most women around the world give birth with midwives and birthing at home among family, coupled with continuous care by skilled attendants, can provide an optimal environment for the majority of women.
As a Certified Professional Midwife, I am trained in low-risk pregnancy and birth management. Thus the scope of care includes all women and families who are within a low-risk category during prenatal, intrapartum (labor and birth) and postpartum periods. As caregivers, our clinical skills, intellects, intuitions and experiences all serve as valuable tools in our work to support you through your pregnancy and birth. We believe the things which matter most in creating a physically healthy pregnancy are those things you have the most control over, including good nutrition, exercise and the elimination of tobacco, alcohol and drugs. Our responsibility is to make you aware of any concerns we have based on past experience and current perceptions.
In deciding to have a homebirth, both parties are committing to a mutual process of informed consent. You, the client(s), are committing to being a responsible healthcare consumer by weighing the risks and benefits of your choices through every step of your care. We seek to offer informed choice, not merely informed consent. You are our clients, never our patients. Any decisions regarding options are yours to make. At the same time, there are limits to what we are willing to take on as responsible care providers. When and if our limits are reached, we will let you know immediately.
